Proper Installation of Hose Bib and Fixtures Into EIFS

Accessories and fixtures frequently handled (hose bibs, railings, sometimes light fixtures or electrical outlets) are subject to more forces than your typical backer rod and caulking will sustain. Wood blocking provides a rigid base of attachment (unlike the EIFS itself) to deal with these strains. The wood blocking can often be attached to studs behind the substrate, as penetrations should occur near studs to support the fixtures on the inside wall. This will provide a rigid surface for which to install backer rod and caulking to the EIFS and lessen “wear and tear”.
